Holy Name of Jesus Church to host yard sale
PROVIDENCE — Holy Name of Jesus Church will hold a yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The sale will include religious items, books, pictures, frames, and household items.
Art exhibit of the Blessed Mother at Museum of Family Prayer
NORTH EASTON, Mass. — Museum of Family Prayer, 518 Washington St., has announced a new exhibit. The Faith Gallery, opening on Saturday, Sept. 9, beginning at 10 a.m., will provide ongoing opportunities for families to learn and experience God’s creation through a variety of artwork. The opening exhibit, “Behold Your Mother: A Vibrant, yet Contemplative Exhibit of the Blessed Mother,” will feature the work of world-renowned artist, Jen Norton. Participate in Rosary and Mass, enjoy crafts for children of all ages, and share a pizza lunch together as a family.
Holy Trinity Parish Social Justice Committee to host ‘Season of Creation’ events
WOONSOCKET — The Social Justice Committee of Holy Trinity Parish, will sponsor several activities in celebration of the “Season of Creation.” Holy Trinity reusable shopping bags will be given out at all Masses, Sept. 9 and 10 to encourage the use of cloth rather than plastic bags. On Sunday, Sept. 17, 9 - 10:15 a.m., a forum entitled, “Caring for God’s Creation,” will be presented by Bill Patenaude, a founding member of the global Catholic Climate Movement (now the Laudato Sí Movement.) The presentation will be held in the Hospitality Room at Holy Trinity Parish, 1409 Park Ave. On Sunday, Sept. 24, 6 -7:30 p.m., the documentary “The Letter: A Message for Our Earth,” will be shown in the Parish Center, Norm Malo Hall, 1371, Park Ave. On the weekend of September 23 and 24, the committee will host a sale of Fair Trade products including chocolate, coffee, tea and hot chocolate, after all Masses.
Narragansett Bay Chorus to perform at St. Gregory the Great Church

NORTH KINGSTOWN —The Knights of Columbus will hold breakfast at the Council Hall, 1265 Tower Hill Road, on Sunday, Sept. 10, from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Children 6 and under eat for free.
West Bay Chorale Celebrates 43rd Concert Season
WARWICK — West Bay Chorale will kick off their fall 2023 season on September 11 at 7 p.m., with registration starting at 6:30 p.m. The kick off will take place at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane. Current singers, as well as those interested in joining the Chorale, are invited. Artistic director Eric W. Van Dervort will direct and the chorale’s board members will process registrations. In particular this year, we are hoping to find new Soprano and Tenor voices. All current singers and those interested in joining must be vaccinated and boosted as recommended and everyone must show proof of vaccination. The Kennedy Wedding Remembered
NEWPORT — In honor of the Kennedy’s 70th wedding anniversary, one can relive that special day, September 12, 1953, when Jacqueline Bouvier married then-Senator John F. Kennedy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newport. The 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12 “Return to Camelot” presentations will feature vintage film clips, a live performance of organ music and hymns from the wedding ceremony, and the “first dance” played at the reception at Hammersmith Farm, Jackie’s childhood summer home in Newport. Following the 30-minute presentation, visitors may tour the church, view pew #10, where Jack and Jackie prayed while attending Mass in Newport, and see the kneelers used during their nuptial Mass. A free-will offering will benefit the St. Mary’s Hot Lunch Program, serving community members in need. Free parking is available in the church lots accessed via William Street. PAWTUCKET — The Little Sisters of the Poor will host their annual indoor yard sale at Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main St., on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 - 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The two-day sale will include home décor, jewelry, housewares, a small selection of furniture, holiday items, and more. WOONSOCKET — St. Agatha and Precious Blood Parishes will host Jim Browne, an international speaker from Ireland. He will give a presentation on the "Our Father" on Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Precious Blood Church hall, 94 Carrington Ave., from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Browne's profound scripture-based teachings and beautiful insight witness to the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Bereavement support group to meet
PROVIDENCE — The Bereavement Ministry of St. Pius V Parish will sponsor a monthly bereavement support group for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. The group will give participants a safe and sacred space in which to learn about grief and to share their grief experiences. Meetings will be held at St. Pius V Church on the first Thursday of the month from September through February from 7-8 p.m. There is no fee, but pre-registration is required. Deadline to register for the first session is Aug. 31. There will be a different topic each month. In the first session, participants will identify common feelings, coping skills, and self-care in dealing with feelings. St. Francis Xavier Academy Homecoming
WARWICK — St. Francis Xavier Academy Alumnae Association (SXA) Homecoming celebration will take place October 22, 2023, with 11 a.m. Mass at St. Timothy Church, followed immediately by lunch at the Crowne Plaza. The class of 1973 will be honored for the 50th Anniversary. Gold rosaries are blessed and distributed to graduates during Mass.
