St. Brendan’s to host Turkey Raffle

RIVERSIDE — St. Brendan’s Parish, 60 Turner Ave. will host a Turkey Raffle on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Come win a turkey or even an entire Thanksgiving Dinner. Food will be available for purchase from the kitchen.

Masses for Recovery scheduled

PORTSMOUTH/WEST WARWICK — The next Mass for Recovery will be offered on November 19 at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Church St. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery. If you or loved ones struggle with alcohol, drugs, addictions, mental distress, or support folks who suffer from the effects of these issues, you are encouraged to attend. All Masses are offered on Sundays at 5 p.m. at either St. Barnabas Church in Portsmouth or at St. Mary’s Church in West Warwick. The entire schedule of Catholic Masses for the intentions of those in recovery for the remainder of 2017 and all of 2018 is as follows: St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth: January 28, 2018; April 29; July 29; and October 28, 2018. Masses at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Church St., West Warwick (including the offering of the sacrament of the sick), will be offered on November 19; February 25, 2018; May 27; August 26; and November 11, 2018.

Holiday Bazaar and Giant Flea Market

MANVILLE — St. James Church, 33 Division St., will host the annual Holiday Bazaar and Giant Flea Market on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will feature Mémère’s Attic with vintage items such as trunks, luggage, crochet doilies, linens, jewelry, lace hankies, quilts, afghans, Victorian figurines. There will also be several raffles: penny socials, split the pot, gift certificates, and gift baskets, crafts including wreaths, centerpieces, handmade ornaments, handcrafted jewelry, crochet and knit goods will be for sale as well as Baked Goods featuring items such as cakes, pies, fudge, cookies. The Scout groups will also be participating and will make available freshly popped buttery popcorn, cocoa mug kits, and a few surprises. A special Cash Raffle will be held with prizes of $1000, $500 and $250. Only 200 tickets will be sold at a cost of $20 each. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Parish Office. Annual bazaar scheduled at St. Brigid’s Church

JOHNSTON — St. Brigid’s Church, 1231 Plainfield St., is holding their annual bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 19 from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the church hall. Vendors have an array of homemade crafts, popular knitted items, jewelry, holiday articles, handmade cards, rosaries, journals, holiday wood crafts, homemade pastries, wine corking, theme baskets, silent auction and a food court serving hot Italian sandwiches, pizza, drinks, miscellaneous snacks and hot dogs. Kangaroo Joey from Launch Trampoline will visit on Saturday to greet the children and adults. Admission is free.

Thanksgiving Family Bingo at St. Adalbert

PROVIDENCE — St. Adalbert’s Parish, 866 Atwells Ave., will host a Thanksgiving Family Bingo on Saturday, Nov. 18, beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5:15 p.m. The evening will also feature basket raffles, a penny social, Polish and American foods with takeout available. St. Joseph Church to host a holiday bazaar

HOPE VALLEY — St. Joseph Church, 1105 Main St, to host a holiday bazaar and quilt raffle to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society and other local charities, on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the church hall. The bazaar will feature the children’s choir, free pictures with Santa, breakfast, silent auction, free children’s crafts, white elephant table, homemade pastries and crafts by parishioners. St. Catherine Church plans bazaar

WARWICK — St. Catherine Church, 3252 Post Road, will hold its annual bazaar on November 18 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the church basement. The event will feature crafts, homemade items, books, a white elephant table and raffles, as well as a penny social along with baked goods. Lunch and coffee will be available.

Sisters to host annual Christmas bazaar

PAWTUCKET — The Little Sisters of the Poor Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main St., will host its annual Christmas bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Offerings will include handmade crafts, baked goods, split-the-pot, spin-the-wheel money drawing, Christmas items and “nearly-new” tables. Bazaar on Broadway scheduled

PROVIDENCE — On Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., St. Mary Church will present its annual Bazaar on Broadway, at Paul Cuffee School, 30 Barton St., located behind Church of St. Mary. Admission is free. Proceeds will benefit the ministries of St. Mary Church. The bazaar will feature unique gifts and decorations including creative holiday greenery, personalized ornaments, home and hostess gifts, “upcycled” crafts, fine knitted fashions, handcrafted jewelry, stylish accessories, a children’s boutique and homemade confections. Stage play ‘The Tuckers’ comes to McVinney

Intentional Discipleship: Moving from Maintenance to Mission

COVENTRY — Saints John & Paul Parish to host the 60th Annual Snowflake Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 19 at 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., in the parish center, 341 South Main St. The event offers a wide variety of items for purchase including gifts, jewelry, knitted articles, religious items, sports memorabilia and much more. The Women’s Guild of Holy Angels Parish to hold their annual Thanksgiving bake sale, turkey bingo

BARRINGTON — The Women’s Guild of Holy Angels Parish, 341 Maple Ave., will hold their annual Thanksgiving bake sale on November 18 and 19. Before and after the weekend Masses (5 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, a delicious assortment of pies, cookies and other baked goods will be available for purchase in the front vestibule of the church. Any proceeds from the bake sale will benefit the charitable initiatives of the Women’s Guild. On Friday, Nov. 17, the parish will also host Thanksgiving Turkey Bingo, downstairs in the fully-accessible church hall, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Great prizes of gift cards and gift baskets will be awarded. The cost is $10 for nine games and there will also be Bingo Specials. Refreshments and beverages will be made available during game play.

Ancora Meets St. Gabriel’s Call

PROVIDENCE — Beginning on Monday, Nov. 27 from 1 - 3:30 p.m., Rhode Island Right to Life’s Ancora Mobile Ultrasound Van will be parked in front of the Chancery building for the Diocese of Providence, One Cathedral Square, to meet the expectant mothers visiting Gabriel’s Call for a “Baby Gift Bag.” The “Gift Bag” will provide an initial supply of diapers, lotion, wash/shampoo, wipes for baby and more. ‘Catholic Social Teaching: Sources and Principles’ at St. Sebastian Church

PROVIDENCE — St. Sebastian’s Church, 67 Cole Ave., will ring in the new liturgical year with one of the most outspoken and engaging voices from the Diocese of Providence. On Wednesday, Nov. 29, 7 p.m., Mark Gordon will present “Catholic Social Teaching: Sources and Principles.” Hear the Church’s alternative to ideologies from the right and left. Gordon is the president of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Diocese of Providence. He is the author of Forty Days, Forty Graces: Essays of a Grateful Pilgrim and has written for the National Catholic Register, Aleteia, and other Catholic Publications. He blogs on the Dorothy Option on the Patheos Catholic channel, and is a frequent commentator on the meeting place between spirituality and social concerns. Refreshments will follow the event.

St. Patrick Church to hold bilingual Mass to commemorate World Aids Day
