ALLEGANY, N.Y.— Franciscan Sister Anne Fraser, 89, a retired educator and receptionist, died June 11 at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse.

Baptized Anna Catherine Fraser in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna (Frayne) Fraser. She was received into the Congregation of Franciscan Sisters of Allegany on August 15, 1938, and professed her final religious vows on August 16, 1945.

Sister Fraser missioned as a teacher from 1939 to 1980 in schools operated by her religious community in New Jersey, New York, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Connecticut and Virginia. In 1981, she ministered at St. Francis House, Woonsocket, where she served as a receptionist, secretarial aide and resident visitor. She subsequently returned to education as a teacher and librarian in New York and Connecticut. She moved to St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in 2004.

She is survived by a brother, Francis J. Fraser.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 13 at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse. Burial was in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
