Making a PACT for education

Posted

Anthony Zavagnin, Ed. D., (center) assistant director of Providence Alliance of Catholic Teachers, or PACT, an education program at Providence College, chats with local Catholic school principals about the program. Established at PC in 2001, PACT, a member of the University Consortium of Catholic Education, invites recent college graduates to contribute two years of service to youth in the Catholic schools of New England.

About 40 PACT participants serve as teachers in the Diocese of Providence, the Archdiocese of Boston, as well as Fall River, Worcester, and Springfield, Mass., where they contribute to the renewal and enrichment of more than 20 schools while completing studies towards master’s degrees. Maria Rocheleau, principal of Father Holland Catholic Regional School in Pascoag and Henry Fiore, Jr., principal of St. Pius X School in Westerly listen intently.
