Help families recover from fires on the island of Maui

Posted

As of Monday, August 21, at least 114 people have died and more than 800 people remain missing from the fires that ravaged the Hawaiian island of Maui and burned entire neighborhoods. Catholic Charities USA is actively providing lifesaving resources and relief on the ground. Affected individuals include about 2,000 islander households. The biggest challenge at the moment is immediate sheltering and safety of people. While evacuation is challenging under any circumstances in a disaster, an additional difficulty is that it will be necessary to move people to other islands for safety.
Catholic Charities USA has established a link to assist with the Hawaii fires on the CCUSA home page. If you wish to donate please visit www.catholiccharitiesusa.org. Monetary donations are the best resource and 100% of donations will go directly to disaster relief, and the local Catholic Charities agency will be able utilize these dollars best according to the ever-changing need.
