Good Shepherd fifth graders bring story to life in quilt

Posted

The fifth graders at Good Shepherd Catholic School in Woonsocket made story quilts after reading "Frindle" by Andrew Clements.

Each student illustrated a quilt square depicting a chapter from the book. The hands-on activity helped to illustrate the tale of ten-year-old Nick Allen, the story’s main character, who has a reputation for devising clever schemes during school. Fifth grade teachers Cindy Berard and Celeste Chudy employed the exercise, which enabled the students to develop their artistic talents as they mapped out elements and concepts central to theme of the literature.
