Frederick W. Andrews Jr.

CRANSTON – Frederick W. Andrews Jr. died Feb. 20. He was the husband of Barbara J. (Moriarty) Andrews, and father of Father Peter J. Andrews, pastor of St. Theresa and St. Christopher churches in Tiverton.

He worked as a self-employed contractor for many years, and was a past employee of the former L. Vaughn Co. of Providence, where he was employed as a draftsman, leaving there to begin his own business repairing and servicing lawn mowers and small engines. He also served as a driver for the R. J. Moriarty Oil Co., taking ownership of the company under the name of Frederick W. Andrews Jr. Transportation.

He was actively involved with the 4-H organization for many years, leading several clubs and programs, and was a former trustee of the Eastern States Exposition. He also was a member and past president of the Rhode Island Agricultural Council, and a member of the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association.

He was a lifelong member of the Oaklawn Baptist Church, Cranston.

In addition to his wife and Father Andrews, he is survived by five sons, David and Douglas, both of Cranston, Dennis of Warwick, Matthew of Sayreville, N.J. and Michael of Stanhope, N.J.; a sister, Grace White of Cranston; and several grandchildren.

A celebration of his life was held Feb. 24 at Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery, Coventry.
