Forty years wandering in the Culture of Death

Posted

January 22, 1973 continues to be a day of infamy for the United States, a day in which the Supreme Court decision Roe vs. Wade legalized abortion on demand in our nation.

As a result, the United States, avowedly a defender of the weak and helpless, has one of the highest abortion rates in the world. Nearly 1.5 million innocent and defenseless unborn children are killed by abortion every year – almost 5,000 abortions are performed every day in America. The extreme abortion policy of this nation allows these unborn children to be killed, - 95% for economic and social reasons, until the final months of pregnancy.

On Friday, January 25, three days after the 40th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in the United States, thousands of people will march on Washington unified in their support and defense of human life, demanding the right to life for all unborn children. Among them will be people of every walk of life, every religious denomination, and of every race and age. They know the truth that human life is a great gift from God that we are all called to protect, nurture and sustain in all its stages. They support the right to life as a basic human right that must not only be protected by law but also enshrined in law. They seek to stop the deliberate destruction of human life by abortion and hold those who promote it accountable for their actions.

Since the tragic 1973 Supreme Court decision our nation has wandered in the desert of the culture of death for 40 years. Let the cries of protesters be heard in the corridors of the nation’s capital and across the nation. Let the cries of the innocents who are slaughtered daily by abortion be heard by legislators and government officials who view them simply as choices and not human beings worthy of life. The time to stop abortion is now before another innocent is slaughtered. We call upon all citizens to join the never-ending march for life that leads us from the desert of the culture of death into the civilization of love and culture of life.
