ITALY — The Reverend Pietro Paolo Polo, C.S., 80, a priest of the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo (i.e., the Scalabrinian Missionaries) died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023 at Bassano del Grappa, Provincia di Vicenza, Italy.
A native of Italy, Father Polo exercised priestly ministry for many years in the Diocese of Providence, first as Parochial Vicar of Holy Ghost Parish, Providence (1979-1984), then as its Pastor (1984-1990). After a brief return to Italy, Father Polo returned to Rhode Island as the director of the Saint John Scalabrini Residence (i.e., Scalabrini Villa), North Kingstown, from 2010-2021. He returned to Italy after that time.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was offered for the repose of Father’s soul on Friday, Sept. 15 at La Chiesa della Purificazione della Beata Vergine Maria, Romano d’Ezzelino, Italy.
