St. Adalbert Church holds Easter bingo

PROVIDENCE — St. Adalbert Church, 864 Atwells Avenue, will hold an Easter bingo, Saturday, March 28, in the parish hall. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with bingo at 6:00 p.m. There will be a penny social, basket raffle, and a Polish-American kitchen. For more information, call 351-9306.

St. John Vianney Church hosts Mass of Remembrance

CUMBERLAND — St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, will host a Mass of Remembrance to honor those children whose earthly lives have ended in miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion or early death. It will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 29, 7-8 p.m. Whether you have personally suffered such a loss, or would like to pray for those who have, we invite you to join us and light a candle in honor of a child. Providence Legion of Mary gathers for annual Acies Ceremony

NORTH PROVIDENCE — Members of the Providence Comitium of the Legion of Mary will gather at the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, Holy Family Chapel, 399 Fruit Hill Avenue, for the annual Acies Ceremony, Saturday, March 28, 2 p.m. Dominican Father Albino F. Barrera, professor at Providence College, will preside at the ceremony. At this time attendees will re-consecrate themselves to Jesus through Mary and renew our fidelity to Mary, our Mother. FIAT offers evening of praise, worship, and Adoration

PROVIDENCE — The Young Adult Ministry and the Office of Vocations is sponsoring a monthly Holy Hour at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, One Cathedral Square, aimed at forming young adults (age 18-39) in prayer and spiritual life. An evening of prayer and enrichment with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, live praise and worship music will be held on Friday, March 27, 7- 9 p.m. followed by fellowship and light refreshments. St. Pius V Church seeks ‘Graceful Knitters’

PROVIDENCE — The Social Outreach Committee of St. Pius V Church, 55 Elmhurst Avenue, is starting a “Prayer Shawl” ministry. Members of a prayer ministry create hand-knitted and/or crocheted shawls for those in need of healing. While creating the shawl, the member prays for healing. Monsignor Anthony Mancini to be honored at the Cathedral

PROVIDENCE — All are invited to join Monsignor Mancini in the celebration of the liturgy, Sunday, March 29, 1 p.m. at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, One Cathedral Square. Monsignor Mancini has recently been named by Pope Benedict XVI to be a Chaplain of the Holy Father. Stewardship fair to be held at St. Bartholomew

Embrace Your Faith Conference to be held at St. Patrick Church

PROVIDENCE — St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, will host national speaker and incoming executive Director of Courage International, Father Paul N. Talk on Christian manhood offered for fathers and sons

NEWPORT — Young men in high school and their fathers are invited to an evening of prayer and discussion as they seek to strengthen their souls as Christian men. Father Gregory Stowe, chaplain of the Prout School, will present a talk on what Jesus’ passion teaches about being a man in the world today. Fathers are encouraged to attend, but if they are unable, the young men are still welcome. The presentation will be offered at the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence, 485 Mt. Lenten Missions at Scalabrini parishes

PROVIDENCE — All three parishes in the Diocese of Providence staffed by the Missionaries of St. Charles (Scalabrinians) have joined together this year to offer Lenten missions in English and Italian. The two English missions will take place at St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, March 30-April 2, 7 p.m., and at St. Bartholomew Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence, April 6 -April 11, 7 p.m. Both missions will be preached by Bishop Lawrence Sabatini, C.S., retired bishop of the Diocese of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.
