Holy Name to host concert featuring the music of Naples region

PROVIDENCE — On Sunday, Oct. 27, Holy Name of Jesus Church, 99 Camp St., will host a concert featuring a varied selection of 19th and 20th century Neapolitan music sung by Ronald Mansi and accompanied by pianist Jacob Stott. Sacred Heart planning All Hallow’s Eve Holy Hour WOONSOCKET – Sacred Heart Church, 415 Olo St., will offer a Holy Hour on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m., in honor of All Saints, and in reparation for those involved in the occult. There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and a short reflection, followed by recitation of the rosary and praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The hour will conclude with Benediction. Silver Rose to be featured during prayer service WOONSOCKET – The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a prayer service featuring a traveling Silver Rose in honor Our Lady of Guadalupe at Sacred Heart Church, 415 Olo St., on Friday, Nov. 1, the Feast of All Saints, following the 6:30 p.m. Mass (at approximately 7:15 p.m.). The Silver Rose Prayers will be offered to Our Lady in an effort to restore the culture of life in our society. The Walk to Olneyville PROVIDENCE — The community is invited to join St. Mary Church on Broadway on Sunday, Oct. 27, after the 10 a.m. Mass for a parish Walk to Olneyville to celebrate the new partnership between the parish and The Olneyville Food Center. In conjunction with the walk, the parish will host a “Brown Bag Sunday.” All are welcome to bring a bag of non-perishable food, or supermarket gift cards to Mass. Holy Family to host parish bazaar PAWTUCKET — Holy Family Parish, 195 Walcott St., will host their parish bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. The bazaar will feature a major money raffle, high roller booth, a giant penny social, children’s raffle, a Christmas craft booth, sports auction, full kitchen and much more. Eucharistic Congress to celebrate end of Year of Faith PROVIDENCE — Events sponsored by the Office of Religious Education to mark the conclusion of the Year of Faith will be held on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16 at St. Pius V Parish, 55 Elmhurst Ave. On Nov. 15, Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m., followed by nocturnal adoration from 9 p.m.-7 a.m. (for which volunteers are needed), with the Liturgy of the Hours, the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. On Nov. 16, morning prayer will begin at 7 a.m., followed by a Eucharistic Procession to Providence College, where there will be a keynote address and breakout sessions in English and Spanish. Annual Catholic Lecture scheduled at Brown University PROVIDENCE — The Thomas Becket Association will present its Annual Catholic Lecture at Brown University: “What Proofs for God Really Prove” delivered by Mr. Nathan Schneider, Brown ‘06, on Friday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. Mr. Schneider’s talk will offer a presentation of how to think through proofs of God’s existence in terms of poetry and experiences; as glimpses into the lives and imaginations of the people who created them rather than simply as arguments meant to win over atheists. Mr. Schneider is the author of “God in Proof: The Story of a Search from the Ancients to the Internet” and “Thank You, Anarchy: Notes from the Occupy Apocalypse”. The event is free and open to the public and will be held in the Petteruti Lounge of the Stephen Roberts ’62 Campus Center on the Main Green of Brown University. Mary House planning ‘Breakfast of Champions’ PROVIDENCE — Mary House, the social services ministry of St. Patrick’s Parish, will host its first annual ‘Breakfast of Champions’ on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m., honoring the accomplishments of 10 courageous individuals who overcame homelessness.
