Holy Hour for vocations to priesthood to be celebrated on eve of ordinations

EAST GREENWICH — On the eve of ordinations to the priesthood, please join the ordinandi for a Holy Hour for Vocations on Friday, June 24, at 7 p.m. at the Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St. The Most Reverend Robert C. Evans., D.D., J.C.L., Auxiliary Bishop of Providence, will preside and Father Joseph R. Upton, Chaplain of The Prout School and URI will be the homilist. On Saturday, June 25, all are invited to attend the Priesthood Ordination of Rev. Mr. Nathan J. Ricci and Rev. Mr. Jorge V. Rocha at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, Providence at 10 a.m. with the Most Reverend Thomas J. Tobin, D.D., Bishop of Providence, presiding. All are invited to join in these celebrations. Holy Angels to host ‘White Elephant’ Rummage Sale

BARRINGTON — Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Ave., will host a “White Elephant” Rummage Sale on Saturday, June 25 from 8 a.m. – noon, at the parish. The sale will feature housewares, toys and games, CDs and movies, jewelry and other items available for purchase.

Hope and Cope Support Group date announced

PORTSMOUTH — The East Bay Hope and Cope Support Group, for those struggling with addiction, alcoholism, mental distress, or dealing with a loved one in need of recovery will meet Sunday, June 26 at 5 p.m., at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, in the Chapel Meeting Room (located beneath the Chapel). Bishop Athanasius Schneider to visit Holy Ghost and Holy Name Churches

TIVERTON — Holy Ghost Church, 316 Judson St., will host Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Mary Most Holy in Kazakhstan and author of “Dominus Est — It Is the Lord!” on June 28. Bishop Schneider will give a talk entitled “The Immutability of the Catholic Faith and the Crisis of the Faith in the world today,” followed by Solemn Pontifical Vespers and a reception in the church hall. On June 29, Solemn Pontifical Mass will be celebrated at the Faldstool. Clergy and seminarians are invited to attend Vespers and Mass in choir dress. ‘A Special Liturgy for our Special Friends’

CUMBERLAND — The SPRED (Special Religious Education Development) program at St. Joan of Arc Parish will host a Mass at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26. SS. John and Paul Parish to Host Deanery Holy Hour

Bishop to celebrate Mass, offer special blessing to World Youth Day pilgrims

Our Lady of Czenstochowa Polish Festival scheduled

COVENTRY— Our Lady of Czenstochowa Polish Festival will be held on Friday, June 24, from 5 – 10 p.m.; Saturday June 25, from 5 – 10 p.m.; and Sunday, June 26, from noon – 4 p.m. on the school grounds, at 222 MacArthur Blvd. and Rte. 117. There will be crafts, games, raffles, cow chip bingo and more. Volunteers needed for opportunities to serve others and transform lives

PROVIDENCE — In this Year of Mercy, the Ignatian Volunteer Corps is looking for individuals 50 years and older looking for opportunities to serve others and transform lives. Volunteers are strengthened in their Catholic faith by IVC’s unique spiritual reflection program, which is rooted in Ignatian spirituality. Volunteers work with the poor, immigrants and those in need in a variety of settings, including schools, homeless shelters, food pantries and parishes. SPRED to sponsor children’s summer camp for the blind

PROVIDENCE — For the first time the Special Religious Education (SPRED) office is sponsoring a two-week summer camp for blind children, 5 -15 years old. The National Federation of the Blind of Rhode Island will run the camp from August 8-19, 2016 at St. Anthony Church, 549 Plainfield St. A limited number of registrations are available. Recital to fundraise for parish pipe organ

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — On Sunday, June 26, at 3:30 p.m., Brandon Santini will perform an organ recital for the Music at St. Anthony program. Santini will be joined by soloist, Celia Gomes, a soprano from Bristol. The event is a fundraiser for the renovation of St. Anthony’s great pipe organ, a 100-year-old Casavant Frère’s instrument. Free will donations are collected during the event, and patrons are encouraged to “Adopt an Organ Part” to help the fundraising.

Annual Family Parish Picnic to be celebrated
