The relic of Blessed Mother Teresa that Bishop Thomas J. Tobin used in the blessing of Sydney Khoury is known as a “First Class Relic.”
Sealed inside the reliquary is a lock of hair from the foundress of the Missionaries of Charity. It was presented to the bishop by a priest friend from his native Pittsburgh who once worked with a group of the missionaries in Rome. Sydney's parents believe something miraculous happened on the day the bishop prayed over their critically ill daughter, leading to her quick recovery following a month in the Intensive Care Unit.
