Virgin of Altagracia celebration to be held Jan. 20
PROVIDENCE —The Rhode Island Virgin of Altagracia Committee and the diocesan Multicultural Ministry will host a solemn Mass, Friday, January 20, at 7 p.m., in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul. The solemn Mass will be celebrated in Spanish by Monsignor José Dolores Grullón Estrella, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of San Juan de la Maguana who is visiting from the Dominican Republic.
Celebrating the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
PROVIDENCE — All are welcome to an evening of prayer, song and celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. The event will take place on Monday, Jan. 23, 6:30 p.m., at St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St. This event is sponsored by St. Patrick Church and the diocesan Office of Black Catholic Ministry. Masses for Recovery
PORTSMOUTH — The next Mass for
Recovery will be celebrated on Sunday, Jan. 29, 5 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E. Main Road. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery. If you or loved ones struggle with alcohol, drugs, addictions, mental distress, or you support folks who suffer from the effects of these issues, you are encouraged to attend. WARREN — Please join us the last Wednesday of each month at 7pm at St. Mary of the Bay, 645 Main Street, in Warren, RI, for Encounter. Encounter is a Eucharistic Holy Hour with contemporary praise and worship music led by our parish music ministry team. The atmosphere is prayerful and reverent, but also informal. Come late or leave early; join us for any portion of the hour. Encounter concludes with Benediction. The Visitation of the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe
PROVIDENCE — The Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be visiting the diocese in various parishes throughout Rhode Island from now through Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023. The image is an exact replica of the original image of Our Lady which she left on the Tilma of St. Juan Diego in December 1531. The Missionary Images are known to have been associated with many miracles and healings. A Holy Mass for Life In Thanksgiving for the gift of life
PROVIDENCE — The diocesan Office of Life and Family Ministry will sponsor a Holy Mass for Life, in Thanksgiving for the gift of life, on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 at 9 a.m. in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin, will be the main celebrant and Father J. Joseph Brice, will be the homilist. Webinar: The Eucharistic Gift: Christ Offering, Transforming, Remaining
VIRTUAL — Saint John's Seminary will host a webinar entitled “The Eucharistic Gift: Christ Offering, Transforming, Remaining,” on Friday, February 3, 7 p.m., presented by: Father Joseph Briody, professor of Sacred Scripture. This webinar reflects on aspects of the Eucharistic Mystery: The Mass as sacrifice; Christ’s real presence; the transformative graces flowing from the Eucharist (conversion and communion); and how powerfully the Incarnation reaches us in the Eucharist. Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Fatima Church
CUMBERLAND — Our Lady of Fatima Church offers traditional Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Friday. The schedule is as follows: 2-5 p.m. — Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament; 5 p.m. — Holy Hour; 6 p.m.—Mass; 6:30 – 9 p.m. — Adoration and Benediction. There is also Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with evening prayer and praise and worship music on January 28 and February 18, starting at 7:30 p.m.
