Amani Migwi, an 8th grade student at St. Margaret’s School in East Providence has been selected as the champion of the Rhode Island State Council Knights of Columbus Essay Contest.
All Catholic students in grades 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 attending public, private or parochial schools were eligible to participate. Each contestant wrote their essays on the theme of “How can the Church evangelize in the digital age?”
The goal of the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest is to give students the opportunity to define the importance of religious freedom, and to strengthen the bond between the Knights of Columbus and their local schools.
Migwi was presented with her certificate and prize by St. Margaret Principal Janine Cooney, eighth grade teacher Bethany Bessette and RI State Council Advocate PJ Shea, pictured.
Migwi was sponsored by Delaney-St. Teresa Council #57.
