WESTERLY — Marianne Regina (Pizzuti) McGregor, 81, of Westerly, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025. She was the loving wife of Deacon John D. McGregor whom she first met after a Providence College basketball game, an encounter that became the beginning of a beautiful life together. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July of this year. She was born and grew up in Providence, educated at the former St. Teresa Elementary and High Schools, and then at Rhode Island College. She later obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Southern California, Brussels (Belgium) extension, while her husband pursued his career auditing coproduction contracts for the U.S. government.

Besides her husband, she leaves her daughters Kathleen Lomi (Peter), Jane Loomis (William), Sharon McGregor-Hall (Christopher), grandson John Lomi and many family members and friends who loved her. She is predeceased by her parents Anthony and M. Regina (Clark) Pizzuti and sister Jean Richard.

As a retired elementary school teacher, Marianne continued to inspire others through the traditions and talents she cherished. She enjoyed many summers at the Seaside Beach Club in Misquamicut, R.I., with family and friends and was known for hosting her annual Christmas party, beautifully decorating her home for the holiday season and featuring various lovingly prepared homemade dishes, especially her famous stuffed mushrooms. A talented baker, she shared Irish soda bread with friends, along with eclairs and her cherished blueberry and Thanksgiving pies. The family treasured the time they spent traveling throughout Europe while living in Brussels when their children were young.

After retirement, she and John continued to explore the world together, taking numerous ocean and river cruises and other memorable trips over the years. In addition, she found joy in playing bridge, gardening, and entertaining, pursuits that reflected her generous spirit and her love of bringing people together. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.

Marianne was a parishioner of St. Clare Parish, Westerly. Her faith was very important to her. Her family is grateful for the caregivers at the Carriage House at the Elms who supported her with kindness and compassion for the past two years. She will be deeply missed, and remembered always for the many ways she shared her time, talents, and love.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Marianne’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, R.I. Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, #306, Providence, RI 02906.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on December 13 at St. Clare Church with burial in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.
