Luigi Carusi Jr., 86, of Church Street, Barrington, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Carmela E. (Ruggiero) Carusi, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage and a lifetime of love, devotion and treasured memories.
Born in New York City, NY, he was a son of the late Luigi and Mary (Zinni) Carusi. Luigi made Barrington his home for 82 years, becoming a familiar and active member of the community he loved.
Luigi was a graduate of Barrington High School, class of 1958, and the former Rhode Island Radio & Electronic School, class of 1966.
Mr. Carusi was a former member of the Barrington Police Department and later worked as a lab technician for Texas Instruments for 30 years before retiring in 1997.
Luigi was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, where he served as a former chairman of the Holy Angels August Feast. He was also a member and past Commander of the Barrington American Legion Post #8, served as Committee Chairman of Barrington Boy Scouts Troop #8 and was a past President of the Bristol Rod & Gun Club. His many years of involvement reflected his generous spirit and willingness to serve others.
Mr. Carusi proudly served his country as a United States Air Force veteran.
Luigi enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and reading. He also enjoyed watching Formula One racing, making his own wine and relaxing with a good cigar.
Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by two sons, Dominic L. Carusi and his wife Dawn of Barrington and Father Angelo N. Carusi, Pastor of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Westerly; a sister, Irene Salvo and her husband Salvatore of Cranston; a sister-in-law, Judy Carusi of Barrington; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Emidio Carusi.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Avenue, Barrington, followed by burial with military honors in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington.
