The Best Christmas Present

Posted

Bishop Thomas J. Tobin has urged the priests of our diocese to take initiative during this season of Advent to “reach out to the unchurched or those who haven’t been attending Mass [because of the Covid pandemic].” But it’s important to remember that this type of evangelization and pastoral outreach is not only the responsibility of the ordained! Every Catholic is called by their Baptism to bring Christ to others and others to Christ.
During this holy season, that can be done by simply inviting an unchurched or spiritually disconnected relative or friend to come with you to Mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Perhaps their attendance and subsequent participation in that Liturgy will lead them to a conversion, or to a return to the regular practice of their Catholic faith.
If it does, you can be sure it will be the best Christmas present they receive this year — or any year.
