The Benefits of Prayer

Posted

The oldest man on earth at the present time (according to Guinness World Records) is from Venezuela. His name is Juan Vicente Perez Mora, and he was born on May 27, 1909. That makes him 113 years old! He’s also a devout Catholic who prays the Rosary twice a day.
When he was asked about the secret to living such a long life, he responded, “Work hard, rest on holidays, go to bed early, drink a glass of aguardiente (which is a strong liquor made from sugarcane) every day, love God, and always carry him in your heart.”
Interestingly, and perhaps somewhat ironically, the oldest woman — and the oldest human being alive right now — is a French Catholic nun, Sister Andre Randon, who, at 118 years of age, is 5 years older than her male counterpart.
Obviously prayer can be as good for the body as it is for the soul. So remember to pray, every day.
