On May 20, the St. Rose of Lima School community in Warwick was inspired by a homily given by Bishop Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R. During his installation Mass as the tenth Bishop of the Diocese of Providence, he encouraged the faithful to be “a church of door-knockers,” urging people to step out of their comfort zones, open their own hearts to Jesus, and invite others to Jesus as well. The new bishop introduced St. Rose of Lima School to the word “Ephphatha,” meaning “be opened.” The school has embraced this message as the theme for the new school year, installing a new sign in the school foyer as a daily reminder.
