Save the Date: Eucharistic Revival Advent Event
PROVIDENCE — From December 5-7, the Diocesan Eucharistic Revival will be hosting a Eucharistic Advent Mission offered by Father David Mary Engo, a Franciscan friar and national preacher. This one-night mission will be offered at different parishes in the diocese each night. More details to follow in the Rhode Island Catholic and Diocesan Social Media. Christmas Bazaar
WEST WARWICK — Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence St., will host a Christmas Bazaar on Friday, Nov. 18, from noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature arts and crafts, a penny social, raffles and much more. The kitchen will be open throughout with a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. Friday night will feature chowder and clam cakes.
St. John Paul II Parish plans bazaar
PAWTUCKET — St. John Paul II Parish, 755 Central Ave., will host a bazaar on Friday, Nov. 18, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 19, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will include breakfast, lunch and dinner, crafts, books, penny social, plants, tools, baked goods, a pro-life silent auction, and many vendors.
St. Thomas the Apostle to host annual bazaar
WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle will host its annual bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the parish hall. The event will feature holiday items, homemade pies and the country store. Sandwiches, beverages and malassadas will also be available. For more information call 401-245-4469.
Woonsocket Knights of Columbus hosting annual Toy Drive
WOONSOCKET — The family of the late Ron Auger, the Woonsocket Police Department and Knights of Columbus Council 113, will host a toy drive at St. Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Road, on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Drop off an unwrapped toy for ages newborn to 12, or make a donation. All proceeds will be donated to children living in the Woonsocket area. For more information, call Jeff at 401-338-1581.
St. Agnes Church Christmas Star Festival
PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will hold its annual Christmas Star Festival in the Church Hall on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 28, the parish will hold a Holiday Breakfast from 10 – 11:30 a.m. The bazaar will feature a penny social, bake table, 50/50 pot of gold, Christmas table, book table, media center, jewelry and raffles. Stump the Theologian
RIVERSIDE — A wine and cheese event featuring Stump the Theologian with special guest Dr. Paul Gondreau of Providence College will take place in the St. Brendan’s School cafeteria, 60 Turner Ave., on Nov. 26, 7-9 p.m.. St. Pius V to host presentation on Dignity of the Human Person
PROVIDENCE — On Monday, Nov. 29, 7 p.m., Alma S. Espartinez, Ph.D., visiting faculty of the Department of Philosophy, Providence College, will speak on, “St. John Paul II and the Dignity of the Human Person,” at St. Pius V Church.
PC students to perform classic scenes from children’s literature for local Catholic schools
PROVIDENCE — Providence College students in the Opera and Musical Theatre Workshop will take the stage on Friday, Dec. 2, 11 a.m., performing for more than 100 local Catholic school students. All of the scenes from this performance come from operas or musicals that have a source in children’s literature (“Peter Pan,” “Hansel and Gretel”, “A Year with Frog and Toad,” etc.). This performance is exclusively for third and fourth grade students from three local Catholic schools that participate in the FriarServe program — Bishop McVinney, St. Augustine and St. Pius. The performance is 45 minutes long and takes place at Ryan Concert Hall at the Smith Center, Providence College Campus.
The Wonder of Christmas Bazaar and Crafts Fair
NASONVILLE — The Wonder of Christmas Bazaar and Crafts Fair will return to the Shrine of the Little Flower, 35 Dion Drive, on Friday, Dec. 2, from noon - 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. This event features gourmet sweets and treats, toasty handmade knits and winter gear, festive decor and gifts for the whole family, along with various raffles and prizes. ‘A Bit of Christmas Music’
WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle Church will host Gary James Farias’ “A Bit of Christmas Music” on December 3, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., in the church hall. He will also be playing other music as well. The entrance fee includes coffee tea and pastry. The kitchen will be open selling sandwiches, pizza, favas and chourico, and soft drinks. You may bring your own food and drinks if you prefer. The event will also include a raffle, 50/50 split the pot and silent auction.
