Roman Catholic counselors needed
RHODE ISLAND — A growing number of Catholics are asking for counseling that reflects Catholic values and spirituality in addition to their needs or concerns. To meet this important need, the Diocese of Providence is hoping to add to its referral list of Catholic-oriented counselors. Counselors who are interested in being on the referral list should be a practicing Catholic, embrace the teachings of the Catholic Church, and have a valid license to practice counseling. Support group formed for divorced and separated Catholics
CHARLESTOWN — Divorced? Separated? The Diocese of Providence is sponsoring an on-going support group for divorced and separated Catholics at St. James Chapel (Parish Center), 2079 Matunuck School House Road. It is held on the first and third Wednesday evening of each month, 7-8:30 p.m. This free support group embraces the Catholic faith and provides a peaceful place for sharing, healing, and for topics related to separation and divorce. The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
CRANSTON — Please come pray and walk together with the Lord as we express faith in the real presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament and bring his light to the streets of Cranston on Sunday, June 11, at St. Mark Church, 9 Garden Court. The celebration will consist of a solemn Mass at 10 a.m., a Eucharistic procession of song and prayer, followed by Benediction and conclude with a light reception in the parish field. The procession will travel the city block of the St. Mark grounds.
Patronal Feast of Sacred Heart Church
EAST PROVIDENCE — The Patronal Feast of Sacred Heart Church, 118 Tauton Ave., will take place June 9-11. The event will include food, malassadas, games, music, live auctions, raffles and many opportunities to attend Holy Mass. On Sunday, June 11, 12:30 p.m. there will be a procession with the Blessed Sacrament and the statue of the Sacred Heart and Blessed Mother through the neighborhood, concluding with benediction in front of the church. 40 Hours Adoration at St. Mary Mission
WEST WARWICK — SS John and James and St. Mary Mission Parish will host a 40 Hour Adoration devotion of the Blessed Sacrament in preparation for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, Sunday, June 11. Young Adult Summer Series: Theology on Fire
GREENVILLE — St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, will host the Young Adult Summer Series: Theology on Fire, Fridays June 16, July 28, August 25 and September 22, from 7-9:30 p.m. Young adults, ages 18-29, are invited to casual evenings by the fire with social time, a talk and refreshments. Come for Adoration at 6:30 p.m. Adoration in Our Lady’s Chapel, then head to the back of the property to the St. John Paul II Grotto fire pit area.
Summer Camp for High School boys an opportunity to grow in faith
PROVIDENCE — All Catholic boys of high school age are invited to attend a Quo Vadis Days Camp to spend time with other young men discovering their purpose in life while having fun. The camp will be held from July 30 – August 2 at the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence. The camp welcomes ninth-12th grade boys, including recent graduates, and seeks to empower young men through friendship, faith and vocational discernment. This year’s theme “…I will show you the way to Heaven” comes from St. Jean Vianney’s promise to a young boy who showed him the way to his parish in Ars, France. Quo Vadis Days Camp is led by priests and seminarians of the Diocese of Providence and is supported by the Office of Vocations. The camp will include reflections from priests and laymen, Mass, an outdoor challenge course, sports and games, Eucharistic Adoration, and other fun activities.
