Free Income Tax Preparation (VITA)
PROVIDENCE — IRS-certified volunteers at Amos House, a fully handicap-accessible agency at 460 Pine Street in Providence, prepare free income tax returns for those earning $58,000 or less. Appointments are available on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 – 8 p.m., plus on selected Saturdays, by calling 401-272-0220. Masks are required. Annual Church Unity Octave
WARREN —The Warren Churches Association will mark the annual Church Unity Octave (January 18-25) this year with an ecumenical prayer service at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23 at St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. The Rev. John A. Kiley, Ecumenical Officer for Diocese of Providence and columnist for Rhode Island Catholic, will lead the prayer service and preach on the theme of unity suggested by the Friars of the Atonement, Graymoor, N.Y. Members of the local Baptist, Methodist, Roman Catholic and Assembly of God churches in Warren have sponsored an annual prayer for Christian unity for many years. The parishioners of all faiths are invited to join in this celebration of Christian unity.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Nominate a group for the Diocese of Providence’s 150 Acts of Charity initiative
PROVIDENCE — Bishop Thomas J. Tobin has launched a diocesan initiative to recognize 150 unsung groups from among the diocesan family who will perform new or increased volunteer efforts in diocesan parishes, Catholic schools and organizations or in their wider communities during the Diocese of Providence’s celebration of its 150th anniversary. Those groups who are selected for the honor will receive a personalized plaque with the diocesan logo of the 150th anniversary celebration. The motto for the sesquicentennial: “The Lord has done great things for us, we are filled with joy,” will also be inscribed on each plaque. Recognition forms are now available on the diocesan website at https://dioceseofprovidence.org/150-acts-of-charity for anyone wishing to recognize a group. Awards will be bestowed on groups throughout the 150th anniversary celebration, which concludes with a Mass at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul on June 26, 2022.
