For the third year in a row, the Thomistic Institute, an international organization founded by the Dominican Order to promote research and discussion of the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas, has joined with the Diocese of Providence to host their annual conference on priestly formation. The eighth annual Conference for Priests was held in McVinney Auditorium in Providence, July 29 to August 1 on the theme of “Evangelizing Your Parish.” In addition to a keynote by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin, speakers included Father Peter John Cameron, OP; Father Anthony Giambrone, OP; Father James Sullivan, OP, pictured at left; Father Damian Ference; Father Jay Scott Newman and Father Augustine Wetta, OSB. The conference allowed priests from across the country to gather in order to discuss more effective means of bearing witness to their own church communities. In related news, the Brown University chapter of the Thomistic Institute has announced their program for this fall, continuing on with a series of talks and lectures concerning various theological topics.
