EAST PROVIDENCE — A total of 51,000 students from 344 schools representing 46 states competed for the title of National ACE Student of the Year. Hunter Haverly, a second grader at Sacred Heart School in East Providence, emerged as the winner.
Col. Bryan W. Cooper, Northeast Region Deputy Chief of Staff for Aerospace Education presented the youngster with a personalized plaque and a check for $50.
Haverly’s teacher, Elaine Mountain, nominated him sharing that “He has demonstrated leadership qualities by helping others,” she said in praise of his enthusiasm, comprehension, and quality of his project.
