Mount St. Charles Academy Graduation 2017

WOONSOCKET — Graduates of the Mount St. Charles Academy Class of 2017 processed to the familiar sounds of “Pomp and Circumstance” as they prepared to graduate, as per school tradition, in the Br. Adelard Arena on Sunday, June 11.

Mistress of Ceremonies Emily Mercier welcomed those gathered for the school’s 93rd commencement exercises, and Campus Minister Deacon Anthony Gagliani offered the invocation. Salutatorian Meghan O’Brien of Franklin, Mass., addressed the class, recalling memories and offering thanks for the family, friends and teachers who developed the graduates and prepared them for success following graduation.

“The people around us taught us more than the pages of a textbook could have,” she said.

Following the conferral of diplomas, Valedictorian Ngan Kim Le of Woonsocket offered her address, thanking her family for their support and assuring her classmates it was never too late to pursue their goals.

“Whatever happens in the future, be active and take control,” she said. “You might not know your destination, but you choose how fast you go, whether it be 40 miles per hour or 80 miles per hour. You decide what drives your life.”

Principal Edwin Burke bestowed the school’s two highest awards, presenting the Excelsior Award to Ngan Kim Le and the All Mountie Award to Emily D’Abrosca. Members of the Class of 1967 also received commemorative 50th anniversary diplomas during the ceremony.
