Bishop Richard G. Henning celebrated Mass to mark the 150th anniversary of Precious Blood Parish, which was established in 1873 to serve a growing number of French Canadian families moving to Woonsocket and Manville, as well as Pawtucket and Central Falls. The new parish needed priests who spoke French, but there were none in the diocese at that time. Precious Blood’s first two pastors were from Belgium.
