The annual Mass for Life: “An Invitation to Pray for All Human Life” was celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Providence. Bishop J. Tobin was the main celebrant and Father James T. Ruggieri served as the homilist, pictured above, at right.

In his homily, Father Ruggieri spoke of the event as an important day for all those who seek to uphold and promote the dignity of human life from the moment of conception until the moment of natural death. He also encouraged those gathered to continue to work to get young people involved in the pro-life cause.

“Our children and youth are very enthusiastic,” he said. “They have a natural moral sense to them about right and wrong and it needs to be nurtured and clarified for them in this confusing culture for which we live. We need them and we need them to be a part of this culture of life. We have been sent as a people and everyone has an obligation to be at the service of life.”
