Knights make donation to SPRED program: Lincoln Grand Knight Raymond Hedenskog presents a check from the Knights of Columbus to Colleen Touchette, former director of SPRED, and Matthew Perry, chairman of SPRED at a special Mass at St. Joan of Arc Church Cumberland. SPRED is a ministry that brings differently-abled people of all ages more deeply into their parish community. Those involved with program took part in the Mass, many volunteering as altar servers, gift bearers and ushers.

Knights with hearts of gold help Special Olympics: The East Providence Council 1528 Knights of Columbus presented an $1,100 donation to the R.I. Special Olympics Chief Executive Officer Dennis DeJesus. The check represented the proceeds from the council’s “Great Bowls of Fire” chili cook-off competition. Woonsocket Knights Council 113 Installs New Officers: The Woonsocket Council 113 Knights of Columbus recently held its installation of officers for the fiscal year of 2019 – 2020. Knights award local soccer star: Mia Hanson, 12, of Bristol has been named an International Champion of the 2018-2019 International Soccer Challenge sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Hanson was sponsored by Council 379. Her precision penalty shooting placed her in the top one percentile of almost 8,000 participants in the council, district, regional and state levels of competition. Knights hold blood drive at St. Thomas the Apostle Church: Bristol Council 379 Knights of Columbus held a Blood Drive at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Warren and collected 25 pints of blood for the Rhode Island Blood Bank. Their next blood drive will be Sunday, Sept. 29 at St. Elizabeth Church in Bristol. Pictured are the Knight’s cheerleaders directing donors to the event.
