Installation of Father Mark Sauriol

Posted

Bishop Thomas J. Tobin installed Father Mark A. Sauriol as pastor of St. Mary and St. Augustin parishes in Newport during the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Dec. 19, with St. Mary Pastors Emeriti Father George B. McCarthy and Father John McNulty, in attendance, along with Father Carl Fisette. Bishop Tobin told the congregation that he was honored to celebrate Holy Mass on this special day for the parishes.

“I want to offer my very sincere congratulations, my best wishes and my prayers as Father Mark begins a new chapter in his distinguished priestly life and ministry. I’m very, very grateful, in my own name on behalf of the Church, for his willingness to accept this new assignment at a time when there are so many challenges in the Church and in our nation. With so many things going on it’s never easy to be a minister of the Lord, a preacher of the Gospel, a servant of Jesus, but we’re grateful for Father Mark’s willingness to assume this new responsibility.”
