Father Moran was a graduate of La Salle Academy and entered the Columban Seminary at Silver Creek, New York in 1943. He was ordained on December 23, 1950, by Bishop John O’Hara. He was appointed to the Iba prelature in Zambales, Philippines in 1951 and by 1957 had produced a catechism in Zambal as well as a prayer book in the same language.
From 1959 and 1967 he was on the staff of the Columban Seminary in Silver Creek, New York, where he was the spiritual director but was probably better known for teaching the students boat building.
He returned to the Philippines in 1967 and spent the next 25 years ministering in Zambales. He was appointed to the Columban formation program in Cebu and served seven years there before two hip surgeries forced him retire to the U.S. He then divided his time between Zambales and Rhode Island. He moved to the Columban Retirement House in Bristol in 2006.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, June 18.
