PROVIDENCE — The Diocese of Providence announces that, with the support of Bishop-Designate Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R., Reverend Monsignor Albert Kenney, Diocesan Administrator, has appointed Mr. William Klements, M.Ed. as Superintendent of Catholic Schools.

“Bill Klements has served our diocese exceptionally well as Assistant Superintendent for two years,” said Monsignor Kenney. “His faith-filled leadership and his career of service in Catholic education will be great assets to our diocese and our Catholic schools. Under Bill’s leadership, our diocesan and parish schools have a bright future ahead of forming young men and women in the knowledge and love of God.”

Prior to becoming Assistant Superintendent of Catholic Schools in 2023, Mr. Klements served as Principal at East Bridgewater Junior/Senior High School and Deputy Principal at Franklin High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Providence College and master’s degrees from both Boston College and Endicott College.

“I am both humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Providence. I am especially thankful to Msgr. Kenney and Mr. Lavigne, both of whom have served as tremendous guides and supports for me personally as well as our schools, particularly over the past year. With their continued guidance as well as that of Bishop Lewandowski, I look forward to helping our schools grow even stronger as we teach our students and continue to nurture and develop a meaningful and loving relationship with Jesus Christ,” said Mr. Klements.

The Superintendent of Catholic Schools serves as leader of the 35 Catholic primary and secondary schools across Rhode Island. The superintendent, in harmony with the vision of the bishop, together with the leaders of Catholic schools, advances the mission, stability, quality, and charism of Catholic education in the state.

Mr. Klements lives in Norton, Massachusetts with his wife and five children. He will assume the role of Superintendent of Catholic Schools on June 2, 2025.
