Celebrating diversity during Catholic Schools Week

Father Robert Perron, pastor of St. Michael Church, Providence, celebrates Mass for the students of Bishop McVinney School on Friday, Feb. 3, concluding Catholic Schools Week. The students also surprised Father Perron by commemorating the day as “Father Bob Day,” honoring the pastor for all of his support and kindness and thanking him with many cards and posters. In his homily, Father Perron asked the children about what special events took place in their classrooms during Catholic Schools Week and encouraged them to thank and appreciate their educators. “One of the great things about our school is that we have so many people who are from all different countries,” Father Perron told the students. “I am so proud of you that you live out the kingdom of God in our school, a kingdom of love and care.
