Celebrating a Commitment to Faith through Scouting and Youth Ministry
Nicholas Carpentier, of St. Agatha Church, Woonsocket, one of the 23 recipients of the 2019 St. Timothy Award, is congratulated by Bishop Tobin. The St. Timothy Award is a national honor given annually to outstanding juniors and seniors in high school or in their early college years who live as disciples of Christ by witnessing to their faith, demonstrating Gospel values through service to others and exhibiting Christian leadership.

Bishop Tobin presents the Companions on the Journey Award to Marilynn and David Renner of St. Luke Parish, Barrington. The award is the highest adult recognition from the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry and given annually to Catholic adults who have been active members in parish, school and/or diocesan activities for youth for at least five years. The Renners are one of 13 individuals or couples honored in this category this year.

Local youth and adult volunteers were honored at this year’s diocesan Catholic Youth Ministry and Scout Awards at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul on Sunday, March 3. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin presided over the Mass and awards ceremony.
