Holy Angels Parish America 250 Take-Out Thursday
BARRINGTON — Holy Angels Parish, 341 Maple Ave., will celebrate America 250 on Thursday, July 16, with its Stars, Stripes and Bites Take-Out Thursday event. Orders are welcome through Sunday, July 12, at 2 p.m. The event will feature a patriotic, carryout menu offering modestly-priced options including a USA Veggie Roll, Let Freedom Ring! Pork Bun, an All-American Meatloaf Dinner, and a Yankee Doodle Cupcake for dessert, with proceeds benefiting the charitable efforts of the Holy Angels Social Outreach Ministry.
The Hillbilly Thomists ‘Strange Land’ Tour
PROVIDENCE — McVinney Auditorium, 43 Dave Gavitt Way, will host the Hillbilly Thomists on Friday, July 24, at 7 p.m. as part of their new "Strange Land" Tour. The event will feature the bluegrass sounds of the Dominican friars, whose music reflects the Thomistic belief that God's grace is present in the ordinary, with proceeds from album sales, merchandise, and donations supporting the formation of Dominican friars at the Dominican House of Studies.
St. Thomas the Apostle Free Music
WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., will host a "Free Music Outside" event featuring a performance by Gary James Farias on Sunday, July 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature live music on the church grounds, a kitchen selling limited sandwiches and soft drinks, and opportunities to purchase raffle tickets and 50/50 split-the-pot tickets.
Discernment Camp
KINGSTON — The University of Rhode Island Catholic Center, 90 Chapel Way, will be the site for the annual Quo Vadis Discernment Camp from Friday, July 31, through Sunday, August 2. Hosted by the Vocations Office of the Diocese of Providence, the retreat is open to young men in grades 6 through 11 and will include Mass with Bishop Bruce A. Little Sisters of the Poor Summer Soirée
PAWTUCKET — The Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main St. (Jeanne Jugan Residence), will host their fourth annual Summer Soirée on Wednesday, August 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature fine wine, craft beer, and signature bites from more than a dozen local restaurants, with proceeds supporting the Little Sisters’ mission to care for the elderly poor.
Little Flower Shrine Candlelight Rosary
BURRILLVILLE — The Shrine of the Little Flower, 35 Dion Drive, will sponsor an outdoor candlelight rosary on Thursday, July 16, from 8:20 p.m. to 9 p.m. in honor of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The event will feature the distribution of candles and prayers beginning at 8:20 p.m., followed by the rosary at the Rosary Walk at 8:30 p.m.
The Third Annual Great Marian Procession
PROVIDENCE — St. Mary Church, 538 Broadway, will be the starting point for the Third Annual Great Marian Procession, led by Bishop Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R., on Saturday, October 17, beginning at 9 a.m. The event will feature a procession to the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul for Holy Mass followed by fellowship in the Lower Cathedral, and welcomes the participation of all Marian advocates, groups, parishes, and schools in the diocese.
