A Feast for all the Senses

St. Rocco Parish, Johnston held its annual feast and festival in honor of its patron last weekend, featuring a candlelight procession in honor of Our Blessed Mother on Wednesday evening, a Mass on Sunday morning celebrated by Bishop Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R. followed by the blessing and distribution of St. Rocco Bread, with a carnival and festivities held under the tent throughout.

“Stand in the fire of God’s love now so we don’t have to stand in the fires of hell,” Bishop Lewandowski said in his homily. He asked the faithful to turn to those around them and ask them to live in the fire of Jesus’ love. “Live your faith boldly and beautifully and bravely,” he said.

Thousands took part in the religious and cultural tradition that is a part of the fabric of Johnston’s religious and civic community.

“This annual feast and festival is a chance for us, as a parish, to come together as a true community of believers supporting one another in our faith and cultural traditions,” said Father Angelo Carusi, pastor of St. Rocco Parish.
