When anger is the just response

Posted

TO THE EDITOR:

Some people are angry at President Obama over the health care law. Just anger as seen in the prophets is God's response in the face of injustice.

It always follows a deep reflection on one's moral behavior with a petition for God's mercy on personal sin and moral failure.

The anger expressed towards President Obama over the health care law found no voice as President Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq. Pope John Paul II repeatedly condemned the invasion which failed to meet the non-violence of Christ or the conditions of the just war theory. With more than 4,000 Americans killed and thousands wounded along with over 100,000 Iraqis killed, mostly civilians, anger might be a proper response.
