WOONSOCKET — A Walk-a-thon will be held May 22, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at River’s Edge Park to raise money for the Good Shepherd Middle School scholarship fund. The length of the walk is approximately five and-a-half miles. At the end of the walk, water and baked goods will be available.

The walk is organized by two Mount St. Charles Academy students, Samantha Towery and Ashley Klejna, who tutor at Good Shepherd. ‘

“The point of this walk is to raise money for the Good Shepherd Middle School so that Good Shepherd will be able to help more lower-income families afford the option to send their children to a Catholic school,” said Towery. In the process of this fundraiser, the students hope to raise awareness about the issue of school choice.

The following locations will house pledge sheets for those interested in walking: The Cakery, Barbara’s Place, Hava Java, Olly’s Pizza, The Roast House, and Terry’s Tire. Walkers are asked to bring the money to the walk-a-thon!
