TV program features school choirs

PROVIDENCE — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence’s Office of Communications today announced the airing schedule for “Music of Christmas” which features choirs from several Catholic schools in the diocese.

School choirs from St. Philip, Greenville; Blessed Sacrament and Bishop McVinney, Providence; St. Francis of Assisi and St. Rose of Lima, Warwick; St. Mary Academy-Bay View, East Providence; and St. Philomena in Portsmouth perform Christmas carols including, Silent Night, Where are you Christmas?, Away in a Manger, O Come All Ye Faithful and many more selections. Bell ringers from St. Philomena perform several songs including Jingle Bells.

“Music uplifts our hearts and souls, but the music of Christmas is so beautiful and so meaningful for so many cultures. It really does inspire us to deeper prayer and the praise of God this wonderful time of year,” said Father Anthony Mancini, host of the programs.

Three special holiday programs will air on Cox Channel 14, Verizon 33 and Full Channel 14 on the following dates and times:

Sunday-December 21& 28- 5:30 p.m.; 6:00 p.m.; 6:30 p.m.

Monday – December 22 & 29- 9:00 a.m./p.m.; 9:30 a.m./p.m.

Friday- December 26 & January 2-9:30 p.m.
