LETTER TO THE EDITOR

There will be no justice in the absence of peace

TO THE EDITOR:

I write from Lancaster, Ohio, to thank Bishop Tobin for his recent "mock interview" with President Obama and his subsequent response to criticism "Jesus Wasn't Always Nice" in his Without a Doubt column dated March 26.

I hope and pray that all of his brother bishops will raise their voices in similar fashion! I teach high school theology and often make the same point to my students, namely, that Jesus wasn't always nice.

We have stripped Jesus of his absolute intolerance of moral evil in the name of "peace." But we all must realize that peace without true justice is nothing but a passing phantasm. Please assure Bishop Tobin of my prayers as he carries out his office of shepherding God's people, taking as his model the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for his lambs!
