Students host 'Baby Shower for Mary'

On December 17, students at St. Margaret School in East Providence held a “Baby Shower for Mary” to support the diocese’s Gabriel Project.

Throughout the month of December, students brought in items useful to care for infants, and during the week of the baby shower participated in various activities and games. Middle school students wrote poems about babies which were read at the shower, and these poems were compiled in a book and given to Carol Owens, above at right, director of the Office of Life and Family Ministry, to share with expectant mothers. Students also sponsored a Dress Down day to collect money for The Gabriel Project. They collected more than 300 baby items and $300 to assist the program. The Gabriel Project works with mothers and their unborn babies delivering much-needed support in many forms, as well as sharing a message of hope.
