Students deliver a 'Box of Joy' for families

Students in St. Mary Academy - Bay View’s Lower School recently participated in a service project called Box of Joy, a Christmas gift outreach organized by local Catholic schools, parishes and groups nationwide in partnership with Cross Catholic Outreach. Each class was assigned a gender and age range for children they would like to bless, and students were encouraged to bring in spare change and make personal contributions. In total, 29 boxes full of toys and supplies were collected in addition to $1,064.20 raised by students. “I am so proud of our students and the display of Mercy, charism and concern,” exclaimed Margaret Cummings, principal of Bay View’s Lower School. “We can ensure that these children are not deprived of Christmas blessings this year and that every child may have the opportunity to experience this joy.”
