St. Thomas More to honor patron this weekend

NARRAGANSETT — St. Thomas More parish will host its patronal feast, beginning with a giant festival, June 19, 6-11 p.m., under a tent in Veteran’s Park at the Towers.

The fun-filled family evening will include music performed by the Martin Doman Band and the Band of Brothers, with delicious food provided by Roch’s Foods, Belmont Market, West Bay Gourmet, The Portside Restaurant and several parish chefs. The event will also include children’s entertainment, games, face painting and raffles.

On June 20, noted Catholic speaker Tim Staples will deliver a talk entitled “ The Relevance of St. Thomas More’s Life for Today” at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland Avenue. He will also speak on June 21, 10 a.m.-noon, at St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road. His talks are titled “ Tim Staples’ Conversion Story to the Catholic Faith” and “The Eucharist: God’s Extravagant Love Revealed.”

A Solemn Mass will be celebrated June 22, 10 a.m., to commemorate St. Thomas More’s Feast Day. Immediately following Mass, a one mile eucharistic procession will walk along Narragansett Pier, ending with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the church.
