JOHNSTON — Rev. Charles Zanoni, C.S., pastor of St. Rocco Parish recently announced the appointment of Mrs. Lorraine (Izzi) Moschella as the parish school’s new principal. Mrs. Moschella assumed her duties earlier this month.

New to Catholic education after having served a number of years in public schools, Moschella, a life-long Catholic, has personally witnessed the value of Catholic education.

A graduate of Rhode Island College, Moschella received a B.A. in Elementary Education and Psychology and holds two master’s degrees in education: one in special education, another in administration.

Moschella began her career in education in 1978 at the former St. Aloysius Home for boys in Greenville followed by nine years as a special education teacher in the Providence Public Schools. She also served as assistant principal and curriculum coordinator for four years at Carl Lauro School in Providence and from 1994-2002 as principal of Dr. E. A. Ricci School in North Providence. Prior to her newest position, Moschella served as principal of the L. McGuire School, also in North Providence, from 2002 until 2011.
