Sexual Revolution: 50 Years Since Humanae Vitae

PROVIDENCE - The documentary on the fallout of the Free Love experiment against the backdrop of Pope Paul VI’s 1968 encyclical about love, sex and marriage, will be shown on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. at St. Pius V. This documentary closely examines the history of the parallel developments of the Pill and modern Natural Family Planning (NFP) by telling the little known story of the founding doctors. Masses for Recovery

PORTSMOUTH — The next Mass for Recovery will be offered on Sunday, October 28, 5 p.m., at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery. If you or loved ones struggle with alcohol, drugs, addictions, mental distress, or support folks who suffer from the effects of these issues, you are encouraged to attend. St. Gregory Church hosting Fall Lecture Series on Homelessness

WARWICK — St. Gregory the Great Church is bringing together community leaders for a three-part series on consecutive Tuesdays through October 30 to discuss various aspects of homelessness. These discussions are free and open to all. The discussions begin at 7 p.m. and are in the St. Gregory Church Hall, 360 Cowesett Road.

Annual Holy Spirit Parish Bazaar scheduled

CENTRAL FALLS — The annual Holy Spirit Parish Bazaar will be held in the church hall, corner of West Hunt and Dexter streets, on Friday, Nov. 2, 5 – 9 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 3, 1 – 9 p.m. The event will feature, raffles, penny social, booths, games, prizes and more. Bazaar scheduled at Sacred Heart Church

St. Joseph Church to host baby shower to benefit St. Gabriel’s Call

NEWPORT — St. Joseph Church in Newport will host a baby shower for St. Gabriel’s Call Mission on November 3 from 1 – 3 p.m. in the downstairs parish hall. All are invited to attend. Items needed include clothing from infant to size 4T or checks made out the St. Gabriel’s Call which goes toward purchasing cribs for those in need. Items are not to be wrapped. St. Gabriel’s Call is a diocesan outreach program which helps women and families during and beyond pregnancy and helps provide items for babies and children up to age four, referrals to services and access to various social services.

‘Fall into Fun’ at St. Alexander Church

Abby Johnson to speak at the cathedral, calling all artists

PROVIDENCE — Servants of Christ for Life is very excited to announce that one of the world’s most appealing pro-life speakers will be coming to Rhode Island for the 2018 Truth, Goodness, Beauty event at the Providence Cathedral on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. Abby Johnson is a former Planned Parenthood clinic director. Come hear Abby’s story that led her to the pro-life movement and the Catholic Church. Truth, Goodness, Beauty is a Catholic, pro-life event.
