Missa Cantata resumes at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus

PROVIDENCE — The Missa Cantata has resumed at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 99 Camp St. After a brief summer break, the St. Ambrose Schola Cantorum has resumed their place at the 11 a.m. Mass every Sunday. This continues the mission established at Holy Name by Bishop Louis Gelineau over 25 years ago, and encouraged by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin, of making the Mass of the Missal of 1962 available to the faithful. All are welcome to join for Mass according to the Missal of 1962 on Saturday at 8 a.m. (prayed) and on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. (prayed) and 11 a.m. (sung). Mass in ASL for Deaf, Hard of Hearing parishioners

PROVIDENCE — ASL interpreted Masses will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church every Sunday at the 9 a.m. English Mass. St. Joseph and St. Patrick Churches announce updated Mass schedule

PASCOAG — The new Mass schedule is now in effect for St. Joseph Church, 183 Sayles Ave., Pascoag and St. Patrick Church, 45 Harrisville Main Street, Harrisville, and is as follows: Saturdays: 4 p.m. at St. Patrick; 5:30 p.m. at St. Joseph; Sundays: 8 a.m. at St. Joseph; 10 a.m. at St. Patrick. Office of Life and Family to offer “To Love and To Cherish” program for Catholic marriages

WARWICK — Office of Life and Family for the Diocese of Providence will offer the “To Love and To Cherish” program for Catholic marriages. The program embraces the Catholic Church’s teachings on marriage and provides topics and discussions designed to enrich and strengthen the sacramental journey of marriage in a sharing group environment. It will be held on Tuesday evenings, from now until October 16, 7 - 8:30 p.m. at Saint Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Ln., Warwick, school side entrance of the church. St. Theresa’s Feast Day celebration

HARRISVILLE — All are welcome to take part in the St. Theresa’s Feast Day celebration, at the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Shrine, 35 Dion Drive, on Sunday, Sept. 30, beginning with Holy Rosary at 11 a.m.; Holy Mass and Veneration of the Relics at 11:30 a.m., followed by a light lunch. “The Way of the Cross for the Church as She Climbs Calvary Today” will be prayed outdoors at 1:15 p.m., followed by devotional hymns to St. Therese and a Holy Hour in the church ending with Benediction at 3:15 p.m. On Monday, Oct. 1, Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m., followed by prayers at the outdoor shrine. Monthly Bible Study at St. Agnes Church

PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will hold their first monthly Bible Study of the season on Monday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in the rectory. The topic will be Capital Punishment in the Bible. All are welcome to attend.

Little Sisters of the Poor to host beer tasting fundraiser

PAWTUCKET — The Little Sisters of the Poor will host a beer tasting happy hour at the Isle Brewers Guild, 461 Main St., on Wednesday, October 3, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This fundraising event supports the Little Sisters’ mission of serving the elderly poor while also showcasing the craft beers made by local Rhode Island brewers at The Guild. Music, light snacks, raffles and food trucks will be on site. Tickets are $25 and include five 5-oz. samples, with wine and soft drinks available for purchase. Pet Blessing at St. Agnes Church

St. Augustine Parish plans annual pilgrimage to Divine Mercy Shrine

PROVIDENCE — St. Augustine Parish has planned an annual pilgrimage on Saturday, Oct. 6 for a visit to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Shrine activities include Mass, Adoration, confession and blessing with the relic of St. Faustina. Bring a bag lunch and dine at the Publick House, Sturbridge, on the way home. St. Thomas the Apostle Parish to host food sale

WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle Parish will have a food sale on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. under the tent in the church parking lot. Malassadas, pulled pork and chouriço and pepper sandwiches will be sold along with chicken fingers, hamburgers, hot dogs and French fries. If it rains the sale will take place in the parish hall. Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support program planned

NARRAGANSETT — The Office of Life and Family will offer the Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support program at St. Thomas More Church (parking lot side entrance), 53 Rockland St., on Wednesday evenings 6:30 – 8 p.m.; October 10, through December 12, 2018 (no meetings on Oct. 31 and Nov. 21). This support group provides discussion topics on grief and a peaceful place to share their experiences, thoughts, and feelings with the spiritual comfort of our Catholic faith. Public Square Rosary to take place in Arctic

AARP Smart Driver Course to be offered at The Villa

WESTERLY — St. Pius X Church will hold its annual Walk for Life on Sunday, Oct. 21. The three-mile walk will begin around noon at St. Pius Church and walkers will process through the town of Westerly, then to the Tomb of the Unborn at St. Sebastian’s Cemetery for a brief prayer service. The walk will end with a light reception at St. Pius Church. Sponsorship forms are available for walkers and all proceeds from the walk will benefit their local pro-life community ministries.
