Cathedral to be featured in behind the scenes festival that showcases Providence’s greatest treasures

PROVIDENCE — The Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul will be participating in the Doors Open RI Festival on Saturday, Sept. 23. The doors of the Cathedral will be open to visitors from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Cathedral is one of 20 places across Providence that is participating. The Doors Open RI Festival is part of a movement of free, citywide “Doors Open” and “Open House” events that take place in over 50 cities around the world every year. Gregorian Concert Choir seeks singers for the upcoming season

Called By Name Ministry to offer retreat

WARWICK — Called By Name Ministry will offer The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola in an Everyday Life Retreat. This is a lived experience of praying, meditating and reflecting on Scripture in order to grow in union with God and to discern God’s will. Heal Together: Family Healing Mass

Holy Cross Church to host Harvest Market

PROVIDENCE — Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Ave., will host an outdoor open harvest market on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the parish. The event will feature homemade breads, cakes, pies, cookies, chocolates, apples from local orchards, assorted sized pumpkins from local farms, colorful mums, knitted handmade items, Fall favorites recipe books, decorative keepsakes and much more.

St. Brigid to host Italian Festival

JOHNSTON — The Social Ministry of St. Brigid Church, 1231 Plainfield St., will sponsor their Italian Festival on Sunday Sept. 24 at noon in the church hall. Ticket prices are as follows: $25 per person, children 6 - 10 are $10 and children 5 and under are free. A full course Italian dinner is being donated by the popular Marchetti’s Restaurant in Cranston along with a wine toast and home-made desserts prepared by the ministry. St. Alexander Church to host 67th Annual Macaroni Dinner

WARREN — St. Alexander Church, 221 Main St., will be serving the local community dinner on Sunday, Sept. 24 from noon to 6 p.m. The menu includes antipasto, soup, macaroni (all you can eat) meatballs, bread and butter and coffee. Wonderful homemade pastries will also be sold. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under.

Msgr. Clarke School Kicks off 50th Year Celebration with ‘A Tasteful Evening’

Bilingual Ultreya Mass to be offered at St. Patrick

PROVIDENCE — All are invited to celebrate a bilingual Ultreya Mass offered by members of the Cursillo movement from the Dioceses of Providence and Worcester at St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. In medieval Spain, “ultreya” was the shout of encouragement pilgrims gave each other while on the road to Santiago de Compostela to visit the relics of St. James. At an Ultreya Mass, expect a beautiful liturgy and a meeting afterward featuring witness talks and testimonies to the power of the spirit as Cursillistas evangelize their families, workplaces and communities. Crafters and vendors needed for upcoming fair

WOONSOCKET — The Greater Woonsocket Catholic Regional School System is seeking crafters and vendors for a fair on October 21, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., held at Good Shepherd Catholic Regional School Gymnasium, 1210 Mendon Road. Table rental fees are $25 for an 8-foot table and $40 for two. Proceeds from the fair will be used to purchase Chromebooks for the students at Msgr. St. Margaret Church to host Mass for healing with anointing

RUMFORD — All are welcome, especially the frail, aged, those in poor health or preparing for major surgery, the terminally ill, those awaiting test results and all seeking the Lord’s healing and protection, to a Healing Mass with anointing at St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. The church is handicapped accessible. Greeters and ushers will be available if assistance is needed. A light collation will follow the Mass.

Door-to-Door Evangelization day scheduled

WEST WARWICK— St. Anthony parish, along with Our Lady of Good Counsel and SS. Peter and Paul parishes, will host a Day of Evangelization on Saturday, Sept. 23, facilitated by the Legion of Mary, at St. Anthony Church. One way to spread the Gospel message is by bringing Christ to the people through efforts such as door-to-door evangelization. It is essential that as disciples of Jesus that we evangelize. Pairs of volunteers will go door-to-door to bring Christ to our neighbors, share the Catholic faith, invite them to a weekend Mass on behalf of their pastors and, whether they are Catholic or not, ask them if they have any prayer requests. The day will begin at 7:40 a.m. with the rosary and 8 a.m. Mass followed by a complimentary breakfast and a short training session. People who are unable to go door-to-door are invited to pray in the church before the Blessed Sacrament for the success of the day which will conclude with a complimentary lunch and sharing of experiences by the volunteers. SS. Rose and Clement Parish to offer ‘Spirit and Life’ prayer meeting, rosary

WARWICK — SS. Rose and Clement Parish, 111 Long St., in Warwick, will hold its “Spirit and Life” prayer meeting each second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The evening will begin with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m., followed by scripture study and healing prayer at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. St. Augustine Church plans annual pilgrimage to Divine Mercy Shrine

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — As part of the Year with Mary our Mother, all are invited on a pilgrimage to visit the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Mass., on Saturday, Oct. 7. Girls Challenge Club

A Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the last apparition of Our Lady of Fatima

PROVIDENCE — The following events will be held at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, 21 Traverse St., in honor of the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima. Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., the film ‘The Miracle Our Lady of Fatima’ will be presented in the church hall.
