Mass in ASL for Deaf, Hard of Hearing parishioners

PROVIDENCE — ASL interpreted Masses will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church on Sundays from now until September 30, at the 9 a.m. English Mass. St. Joseph’s Church to celebrate Polish Festival

CENTRAL FALLS — St. Joseph’s Church, 391 High St., will hold its annual Polish Festival Friday, Sept. 7, from 6 p.m. – midnight; Saturday, Sept. 8, from 6 p.m. – midnight; and Sunday, Sept. 9, noon to 6 p.m. The festival will include delicious Polish and American food, games of chance, children’s entertainment, and music by Stop Band & DJ by Michael. Admission is free. All are welcome.

Knights of Columbus to host breakfast

NORTH KINGSTOWN — The Knights of Columbus will hold a breakfast at the council hall, 1265 Tower Hill Road, on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Scrambled or fried eggs, sausage, toast, home fries, baked beans, pancakes, breakfast pastries, orange juice, coffee and tea will be served. St. Ambrose Church to host annual clambake

ALBION — St. Ambrose Church, 191 School St., will hold its annual clambake on Sunday, Sept. 9, on the church grounds from noon – 5 p.m. There will be clam cakes and chowder, hamburgers, hot dogs, dynamites, doughboys, home-baked goods and more. Tolton: From Slave to Priest

PROVIDENCE — “Tolton: From Slave to Priest” is a new live theater production based on the life of Father Augustus Tolton, the first African American Catholic priest. Experience Tolton: persevering in his deep desire to become a Catholic priest, overcoming slavery, hardships and persecution, including the rejection of every seminary in the United States. This live, one-man multimedia drama is currently on a national tour, and McVinney Auditorium is the only Rhode Island performance. Explore the basics of the Christian faith at a upcoming Alpha Course at Christ the King Church

KINGSTON — Alpha will meet on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. beginning September 11 in the parish hall at Christ the King in Kingston. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that explore the basics of the Christian faith and is for anyone, including those who may be searching, curious, or just desire a “faith tune-up.” It is based on welcome and hospitality, sharing and prayer. Each session includes a meal, a talk and small group discussion, where no question is too simple and no answer is pre-packaged. Serra Providence to host gathering to pray for vocations

PROVIDENCE — Serra Providence will host a gathering on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Providence Seminary, 485 Mt. Pleasant Ave. The mission of Serra Providence is to foster, affirm and promote vocations to the priesthood and religious life in the Diocese of Providence through prayer, activities and events. Father John V. Doyle School to host fourth annual car show

COVENTRY — Father John V. Doyle School, 343 South Main St., will hold the fourth annual car show on September 15, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the school parking lot. The event will feature a variety of classic to modern cars, prizes, raffles, bake sale, gently used book sale, local authors, a variety of vendors and more. Women’s prayer apostolate to offer prayers for priests, seminarians and vocations

PROVIDENCE — The Mary Mother of Priests Apostolate (MMOP) is a women’s prayer apostolate offering prayers for priests, seminarians and vocations. The next meeting will take place on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Our Lady of Providence Seminary, beginning with Mass at 9 a.m., followed by adoration, prayer and fellowship. MMOP sponsors the Adopt-a-Priest project with the Serra Club and will meet again Saturday, Oct. 6. All women are welcome to join.

The program embraces the Catholic Church’s teachings on marriage and provides topics and discussions designed to enrich and strengthen the sacramental journey of marriage in a sharing group environment. A Day of Remembrance

RIVERSIDE — The Office of Life and Family Ministry invites the community to gather at the Guardian Angel – Baby Land area of the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 – 11 a.m. This special prayerful event is dedicated to all babies that have died from an abortion, a miscarriage, stillbirth and early infant death. It will include reflections, the Rosary and other prayers for all the babies. This event is being held simultaneously with the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children.

40 Days for Life Fall Campaign to begin

PROVIDENCE — The prayer vigils begin on Wednesday, Sept, 26 however, the actual kick-off will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 8 a.m. Participants will meditate on the Joyful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary of Our Lady. Please share one hour of your time during the campaign to pray outside of Planned Parenthood. The diocesan Office of Life & Family Ministry is also asking those who are not able to join in the public prayer vigils to consider pledging a Rosary for 40 Days to end abortion.

14th Annual Human Life Guild Day

PROVIDENCE — This year’s Human Life Guild Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will be the main celebrant and homilist for the 9 a.m. Mass. Following Mass, there will be a reception with the bishop in the cathedral hall with presentations covering “Humanae Vitae - 50 Years Later,” “The Modern Debate – Understanding Transgenderism from a Catholic Perspective,” “Hope for the Future,” and “Being a Pro-Life Feminist.” All are invited to attend the Mass, but pre-registration is required for the conference that will follow. The cost is $25.00 per person. Deadline to register is September 21.

Respect Life Month begins with Life Chain Sunday

PROVIDENCE — The first Sunday in October is traditionally the beginning of Respect Life Month. During October, faithful call to mind, through prayer and peaceful vigils, all the innocent lives that are lost each day because of abortion. Join or host a Life Chain on Sunday, October 7. Participation is encouraged between 2 – 3pm in front of your parish or a visible area. Reserve one hour to pray to end abortion.
