New support group for divorced and separated Catholics
CAROLINA — The Office of Life and Family is offering a new support group for divorced and separated Catholics at St. Mary Church, rectory (downstairs, side entrance), 437 Carolina Back Road. The group is ongoing and will be held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. There are no costs to attend. This support group embraces our Catholic faith and God’s grace, and provides a peaceful place for sharing, healing and for topics/discussions related to separation/divorce. Deceived About Lying
PROVIDENCE — St. Pius V Young Adults will host Dr. Peter Colosi on April 26 for a talk about lying. Some of the strongest verses in the Bible are against lying. We tend to think that lying compared to murder and stealing is not so bad, but it doesn’t seem to be true according to the Bible. In this talk a careful presentation of exactly what a lie is and the reasons why lying is immoral will be explained. Then the floor will be open for a lively discussion. Adoration/Confession is at 7 p.m.; talk at 8 p.m.; fellowship at 9 p.m. Dr. Colosi is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Salve Regina University.

Manhattan At The Bay Celebrates 35 Years!
EAST PROVIDENCE — St. Mary Academy - Bay View’s annual fundraiser Manhattan at the Bay to celebrate 35 years. From April 26 - 28, the Bay View Players will present an original cabaret-style production, “Bay View Live! Cabaret 35,” as the centerpiece of our annual fundraising weekend. “Bay View Live! Cabaret 35” brings the brilliance of the Broadway stage to Bay View. In addition to spectacular cabaret-style performances, other Manhattan at the Bay events include the Friday “Little Italy” Family Dinner, the Saturday 35th Anniversary Celebration, and the Luck O’ the Irish raffle. St. Bartholomew to host parish Dinner Dance
WARWICK — St. Bartholomew Church will hold its annual Parish Dinner Dance on Saturday, April 28, at 7 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza. Music will be provided by “Ambrosiani.” A Silent Auction will also be held that evening for those who wish to participate and bid on the many great items. McVinney welcomes PBS star in concert
PROVIDENCE — Sixteen year-old international music sensation, singer, songwriter, pianist, composer, actor, philanthropist and PBS star, Ethan Bortnick, will be in concert at McVinney Auditorium, 43 Dave Gavitt Way, for just one night, Saturday, April 28 at 7 p.m., with his newest PBS special, “Generations of Music!” featuring special guest Assia Ahhatt, classically-trained violinist and Eastern European star. Strengthen Parish and Diocesan Outreach to Parishioners with Disabilities
PROVIDENCE — Explore with leaders from the National Catholic Partnership on Disability (NCPD) ways in which you can help assure that parishioners with disabilities experience belonging in your parish, participating fully in the sacramental life and sharing their own gifts as missionary disciples. In an effort to fulfill their commitment to help persons with intellectual, developmental or physical challenges, the deaf, the hard of hearing or blind; and the people who serve them, Catholic Financial Life will sponsor the 41st annual Project FAITH Seminar at Providence College. The seminar will take place on Saturday, April 28 in Ruane Great Room, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This seminar offers the unique opportunity to listen to experts on the topic and share with participants from other dioceses. St. Pius V is celebrating its centennial
PROVIDENCE — St. Pius V Church is celebrating its centennial. Former parishioners and alumni of the school are invited, but the event is open to anyone. Saturday, April 28, the parish will host a “Dinner Dance” at the Venus de Milo in Swansea, Massachusetts. A cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. followed by music and dancing with the popular band, Blurred Vision. Tickets are $50 each (adults only). Masses for Recovery scheduled
PORTSMOUTH — The next Mass for Recovery will be offered on Sunday, April 29 at 5 p.m., St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery. If you or loved ones struggle with alcohol, drugs, addictions, mental distress, or support folks who suffer from the effects of these issues, you are encouraged to attend. Madonna Della Strada award ceremony scheduled

Holy Rosary Sodality to host annual Card Party
BRISTOL — The Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., will hold their 46th Annual Card Party on Monday, April 30, 2018, at 7 p.m. in the parish auditorium. This is a fun night and everyone is invited. Chourico salad and chicken salad sandwiches will be served with chips, homemade desserts, coffee, tea and/or soda. St. Anthony Church to hold May Breakfast
NORTH PROVIDENCE — The Holy Name Society at St. Anthony Church will hold its annual May Breakfast on Saturday, May 5 from 8-11 a.m. in the St. Anthony Church Parish Center, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave. The breakfast will feature scrambled eggs, home fries, sliced ham, bacon, baked beans, breakfast pastries, orange juice, coffee and tea. Final Five First Saturdays Devotion at St. Augustine Church
PROVIDENCE — The last of the Five First Saturday devotions will be held on May 5. Since January, many Parishioners of the St. Augustine family have taken advantage of the opportunity to complete the Five First Saturday Devotion. Devotions begin with the Sacrament of Reconciliation 3:45 p.m. (continuing until 5 p.m.), the Holy Rosary in song at 4 p.m., meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Mass with Holy Communion beginning at 5 p.m. The message of Our Lady at Fatima has never been more relevant in our history. All are invited for this final First Saturday Devotion of 2018. We hope you will make every effort to attend this very beautiful and special devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary.

St. Alexander Church to host May Breakfast

Knights of Columbus to host breakfast
NORTH KINGSTOWN — The Knights of Columbus will hold a breakfast at the council hall, 1265 Tower Hill Road, on Sunday, May 6, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. The menu will include scrambled or fried eggs, sausage, French toast, home fries, baked beans, orange juice, coffee and tea. Catholic Mom’s Group to meet
PROVIDENCE — Catholic Mom’s Group will meet on Tuesday, May 8, 6 p.m. at Holy Ghost Church in Providence. The group is intended to provide support, friendship and the affirmation of our role as Catholic mothers. Appreciating the Feminine Genius
PROVIDENCE — On Wednesday May 9, at 7 p.m., St. Sebastian’s Church, 67 Cole Ave., will welcome Sarah Heaton to reflect on femininity and the unique gifts women bring to the world, as understood through the lens of Pope Saint John Paul II’s Letter to Women. Heaton has been associated with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, the Augustine Institute, Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women and is now the Director of Enrollment and Marketing for the Diocese of Fall River Catholic Schools. She has spoken around the country about John Paul II’s writings on women. Refreshments will be offered.

Discernment Retreat for Middle School Boys
PROVIDENCE — The Office of Vocations is hosting a discernment retreat on Saturday, May 12, at the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for boys to celebrate their faith and reflect on God’s plan for their life. The day will include Mass, recreation, food and an opportunity to meet diocesan seminarians and learn more about the seminary. ‘Bazaar at the Star’ is looking for crafters
NARRAGANSETT — St. Mary Star of the Sea Church will hold its annual bazaar this year during the summer on Saturday, July 21. This popular event, usually held in November, draws more than 500 people.
