Special screening of new Dorothy Day film
WARWICK — Alumni and filmmaker Martin Doblmeier will bring a special showing of his new film: Revolution of the Heart: The Dorothy Day Story to Bishop Hendricken on Thursday, Jan. 23, 7 p.m., in Dr. Daniel S. Harrop Theater. The film is being co-sponsored by St. Mary Academy-Bay View and will be open to the public. The 55-minute film includes rare archival photographs and film footage, plus interviews with actor/activist Martin Sheen, public theologian Cornel West, popular author Joan Chittister, Jim Wallis of Sojourners and many others.
Missionary Image to visit St. Mark Church
CRANSTON — The Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will visit St. Mark Church, 9 Garden Court, on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 3-5:30 p.m. The visit will begin with recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, followed by praying of the rosary at 4:15 p.m. At 4:40 p.m., there will be a presentation about the Guadalupe Miracles. Veneration of the image will begin at 5 p.m., followed by Benediction at 5:15 p.m. The Missionary Image is the actual color and size replica of the original Miraculous Image of Our Lady which she left on Saint Juan Diego’s Tilma. This is one of four that travels the world. It was blessed at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico by the rector, Msgr. Diego Monroy, to bring conversions, reverence for life, sanctity of the family and solidarity of the Church in America.

St. Pius V School Open House

Our Lady of Mercy School to hold Annual Open House
EAST GREENWICH — Our Lady of Mercy School, located at 55 Fourth Avenue is East Greenwich, is hosting its annual Open House for current and prospective families on Sunday, January 26 from 10 a.m. - noon. Visitors will be greeted by students, faculty, and staff and will have the opportunity to tour the school and discover all of the academic, spiritual, and extra-curricular programs that OLM is proud to offer. OLM School’s Campus Cuisine lunch program will be on hand with complimentary offerings from our vendors such as Wild Harvest, Tio Mateo’s, Panera Bread, Papa Gino’s, and Chick-fil-A. Also on January 26, Our Lady of Mercy Parish will welcome all OLM School graduates to a special Alumni Mass at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Masses for Recovery
PORTSMOUTH — The next Mass for Recovery will be offered on Sunday, Jan. 26, 5 p.m., in the chapel meeting room, under the chapel, at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E. Main Road. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery. If you or loved ones struggle with alcohol, drugs, addictions, mental distress, or support folks who suffer from the effects of these issues, you are encouraged to attend. Knights of Columbus to host blood drive
EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Knights of Columbus, Council 1528, in cooperation with the Rhode Island Blood Center, will host a blood drive on Sunday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Columbus Club Hall, 3200 Pawtucket Ave. Each donation can save three lives. First Saturday Devotions to Our Lady
PROVIDENCE — Please join Relevant Radio, the St. Augustine Council of the Knights of Columbus and the Men of St. Joseph for the First Saturday Devotions to Our Lady of Fatima at St. Augustine Church. First Saturday Devotions (in song) on Saturday, Feb. 1 and continue on the first Saturday of each successive month through May. Devotions begin with the Sacrament of Reconciliation 3:45 p.m.-5 p.m., Holy Rosary in song at 4 p.m., private meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and Mass beginning at 5 p.m.
Mental Illness support group to take place at Holy Family Church
PAWTUCKET — Faith Based National Alliance on Mental Illness R.I. support group will begin meeting at Holy Family Church, 195 Walcott St. The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 6:30 p.m., in St. Joseph’s Church Hall, and will continue on the second Wednesday of each month. This is a confidential and safe support group for adults living with mental illness. NAMI is the nation’s largest mental health organization.
New England Priest Workshop on Traditional Roman Mass
PROVIDENCE — A two day workshop focusing on some of the celebrant’s most noticeable actions during the traditional Roman Mass, will be presented from Tuesday, Feb 18-19 at Holy Name of Jesus Church by Louis Tofari of Romanitas Press. This workshop is open to priests and seminarians and is sponsored by the Latin Mass Apostolate of Cape Cod and hosted by Una Voce Rhode Island. New Special Religious Education Class looking for catechists, sponsors
PROVIDENCE — A new Special Religious Education (SPRED) community will take place at St. Benedict Warwick at Diocesan SPRED Center in January 2020. Four children with special needs, ages 9-13 are waiting to be prepared for the sacraments. Please consider sharing your gifts and help these children enjoy fully their baptismal rights as members of the Catholic Church. Free training will be provided prior to start.
